Frequently Asked Questions
-
Ringed workshops vary in price from $3,500 to $8,300 and you can choose between making one to three rings! Depending on the clients preferred ring design, customers may also incur additional fees for metal material costs, finishing, engraving, stone setting, overnight shipping, and more. Gemstone costs in particular are highly variable. In general, fabrication students typically spend $5,700 - $6,700 for a pair of rings, while wax carving students typically spend $6,400 – $7,400 for a pair of rings.
-
The difference mostly has to do with design. If you want a simple, half-domed or flat band without much texture, or you want a cut out, hammered, or planished texture, fabrication is the way to go. If you want organic or detailed texture, asymmetrical shapes, or a more undulating surface, then wax carving is ideal. Still not sure? Purchase the “undecided” workshop option or contact me at allison@ringedpdx.com.

If you’re attending a metal fabrication workshop, then yes! If you participate in metal fabrication but request engravings and/or stone settings, those will have to occur outside of my workshop. In that case, your rings will be mailed to you. Wax carved rings must be cast outside of my workshop, so those will always be mailed to you. Casting typically takes 4 weeks.
-
Workshops may only be scheduled after your ticket has been purchased, and at least 8-15 weeks in advance of your desired date to ensure time for design discussion and arrival of precious metals. Workshops take place on Saturdays or Sundays. If you’re traveling to Portland from out of town and want to make sure I’m available before purchasing your tickets, please contact me at allison@ringedpdx.com.

Yes! Payment plans are created for each individual client and their needed timeline. All material and workshop fees must be paid in full 35 days prior to the workshop. This ensures all materials arrive at the studio prior to your workshop date. Please reach out to Allison directly to set this up. allison@ringedpdx.com
